A Void Built (2016)

A series of abstract paintings centered on the theme of obstruction of the gaze in the urban environment. I use pictorial qualities that emulate collage and digital editing as metaphors for spatial reconstruction through photographic records of the city. I develop the notion of painting as a material accumulation of pictorial gestures through the fragmented, unfinished, and worn-out as elements of visual construction.
